Project Description
ELENA PDS will support Wien Energie in the preparation of two
investment projects for decarbonisation of a district heating system in
Vienna.
The first project will be the deep geothermal energy plant
(Hydros Seestadt). The deep geothermal energy plant will be the first
in Vienna. The findings of the project such as those relating to
underground productivity, chemical properties of the water and so on
will be used for a further field development. The development should
result in a total installed capacity of the technology of about
120 MWth by 2030.
The second project is the thermal storage project (ScaleUp), further
upscaling of the innovative technology used in this project is planned
soon after the successful implementation
